Avicii Announces Retirement From Touring and Shows In A Heartfelt Letter To Fans

The bromance is done. Wake me up, it’s all over!

Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, announced today on his website and social media accounts that he will be retiring from touring and live performances. The 26 year old will walk away from the decks when his 2016 show dates are over. The Swedish DJ wrote a long letter to his fans explaining why he made this decision.

Avicii has had some medical issues over the years including canceling a tour in 2014 for gall bladder surgery. He also had his appendix removed and was forced to cancel his appearance at Ultra that year. Back in 2013, he told GQ magazine that he had to cut back on alcohol after he was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis.

The Grammy nominated artist thanked his fans for all of the support over the years and wants 2016 to go out with a bang.

You can check out Avicii’s letter HERE.

I will say I have enjoyed some of Avicii’s music over the years. For me, he peaked between 2010-2012. I am glad he is stepping away to focus on himself, and possibly other projects. Whether you like it or not, his songs will continue to live on, especially LEVELS. That song has turned into a true dance anthem.

Thanks for all of the memories Avicii!
