Electric Forest Clarifies Alcohol Policy, Apologizes For Confusion

Yesterday, the EDM community was all up in arms as a rumor of a ban on booze at Electric Forest circulated the internet. The outrage ensued following a Reddit post that suggested the festival would be prohibiting all outside alcohol from it’s venue in accordance with a new piece of legislature. Today, the Electric Forest “HQ” released a statement via Facebook in an effort to put an end to the questions around the event’s alcohol policies.

HQ would like to clarify the confusion that surrounds the comments that surfaced over the weekend regarding the festival…

So, according to the official announcement, it seems to be that liquor will be completely prohibited from the campgrounds, along with all kegs and glass bottles. In addition, they are restricting campers to “1 case of beer and one box of wine per person.” And no matter what you plan on drinking, it better not be open when they check you in to the campgrounds, because it can be confiscated.

As for the reaction from ticket holders for 2016’s Electric Forest? Well, it depends on who you talk to. It seems many are still infuriated, suggesting that the restrictions are unnecessary and unfair. One Facebook user argued, “for $330 a ticket I should be able to drink whatever the hell I want at my campsite.” However, there are also plenty of reasonable ravers who are trying to look at it optimistically. “It’s still going to be a great time even without alcohol,” another Facebook comment insists reminding us that “festivals should be more for the music and the experience.”

Electric Forest will be held at Double JJ Ranch, in Rothbury, Michigan from June 23-26, 2016. The festival is completely sold out now, but it’s possible the new alcohol policy could free up some tickets!

East coast origin, West coast lifestyle… Growing up I was always surrounded by the sounds of dance music in New York and Florida. However, it wasn’t until college that I was introduced to the rave scene and finally experienced the love and positivity this community is all about. I’m into warehouse undergrounds and massives like Ultra Miami, TomorrowWorld, Nocturnal Wonderland, Hard Day of the Dead, and Buku Music & Art Festival… In addition to EDM, my playlists usually have a lot of Hip-Hop, Top 40 and I’m a huge sucker for throwbacks. Hit me up if you’re attending an event in the Hollywood/LA area, as I’m always open to making new friends!
