EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE + INTERVIEW: Hot Mouth – “Flicker”

hot-mouth---flicker

Hot Mouth (Jon Pegnato) is back at it again with his newest solo release “Flicker”. After his time as half of LA Riots producing remixes for renowned artists including Tiesto, Steve Aoki and even Lady Gaga, Jon has returned to his roots rekindling his original solo project Hot Mouth allowing him to create a sound entirely unique to his own. “Flicker” brings a groovy beat guaranteed to hypnotize your feet into dancing away through its bouncy bass-line and old-school synths. Midway, Jon cools the vibe down with a beautiful melodic break before building back up and dropping into Hot Mouth’s signature funky electro. This track perfectly delivers a groovy, funky disco feel not found on enough dance floors lately, and we like that.

Now is the time to be on the lookout for Hot Mouth as he’s been on a break from touring. Jon locked himself away in the studio to revisit where it all began creating tons of new music coming soon hopefully to a festival near you. If you’ve enjoyed “Flicker” as much as we have, be sure to give Hot Mouth’s other recent releases “Juxtapose” and “Flash” a listen too. Jon brings a truly refreshing change from current EDM trends with “Flicker” and we can’t wait to get funky at a Hot Mouth set soon!

Hot Mouth Interview

For those that aren’t familiar yet, who is Hot Mouth? The funky quirky side of Jon Pegnato

What did you do before you began producing music? I surfed & snowboarded….and worked for a roofing company!

When did you first discover your passion for producing music? First time I ever made a song. Probably around 2000…

Your sound is very unique from current EDM trends, Describe the feel you go for in your productions? Honestly I really don’t go for anything…maybe thats why its so “unique.” I just try and do what ever I’m feeling at that moment.

Any plans for touring or upcoming festival appearances? Which festival you would like to play at in particular and why? I‘d really love to play EDC again. I got the chance to play it twice a couple years back., and they have always been my favorite moments. So I’d like to do that again!

You’ve taken some time off to put serious studio work in. Can we expect to see an album in the works? Mostly singles…but I do have a small mini album I did that I think I might release this summer…all more chill stuff, less EDM.

You’ve done countless remixes over the last few years, what was one of your favorites to do? “I Love It” by Icona Pop is still my favorite remix. I was one of the first people to remix it before it was a hit.  It was really cool to work on something you new wasn’t a hit yet, but that was going to be.

When you’re not in the studio or on the road, are there any other hobbies you enjoy doing in your free time? I like to build shit. right now I’m building at bar at my house!

Anything you would like to tell fans about what Hot Mouth holds store for the rest of the year? More music!
