5 Show Stopping Artists To See At Sunset Music Festival

As this weekend approaches, many eager ravers are heading down to Tampa, Florida for Sunset Music Festival. For 10 years Disco Donnie and Sunset Events have been bringing the Florida electronic music community legends of dance music but also rising producers from all over the world. This year extending the festival from two days to three, SMF is giving people the whole weekend to explore and discover artists that fit their creative needs.

It doesn’t matter if you are a house stepper, headbanger, or you like to get lost in trance, there is a place for you to get down. Here are just a few artists you should check out at Sunset Music Festival 2022.

1. Moore Kismet

Only 17 years of age, Moore Kismet, real name Omar Davis, has done nothing but wow the world. They picked up music production at the age of seven, focusing on and perfecting their craft. Later they went on to being a beat battle finalist at A-Trak’s Goldie Awards back in 2019 at only 14.

This LGBTQIA+ and mental health advocate also went on to make history by being the youngest person to play at EDC Las Vegas and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Being signed to Thrive Records, Davis has their own sound when it comes to dubstep.

When describing “the Moore Kismet sound,” Davis told Relentless Beats in an interview, “a fan actually came up with this, and I’ve never heard it as perfectly described as this, they called it ‘beautifully controlled chaos’ and that’s kind of been my process as far as songwriting goes for the longest time. You know, I’ve never resonated with a statement more as far as my personal musical sound goes than ‘beautifully controlled chaos.'”

2. LP Giobbi

Named one of Tomorrowland’s “20 of 2022,” Austin-based producer, DJ, pianist, and activist LP Giobbi emerged in 2018 taking the music world by storm. As a multi-faceted artist LP Giobbi, real name Leah Chisholm, plays sets that consist of live piano loops, high-energy beats, and beautiful melodies.

You can catch Chisholm rocking a vintage Grateful Dead t-shirt that was passed down to her, bringing the band’s energy to all her shows. Chrisholm is also the founder of FEMME HOUSE, a non-profit educational platform that seeks to create equitable opportunities for women and other marginalized gender expressions in the technical areas of music creation. If you want to take a break from the original electronic sound and want to see some live music, check out her set at SMF 2022.

3. Joshwa

As a confirmed breakthrough UK underground dance artist, Josh Dickens, better known as Joshwa, knows how to throw a dance party. By gaining recognition for his first major release, a tech-house remix of Fatboy Slim’sPraise You“, released on Glasgow Underground in 2018, Dickens hasn’t stopped bringing the grooves. Since then he has been releasing tracks on many record labels like Spinnin’ Records, LoveJuice Records, and SoloToko. Bringing you fresh house beats and unique remixes, you don’t want to miss the party Dickens will throw at SMF 2022.

4. Wreckno

Taking over stages throughout the country, Wreckno, real name Brandon Wisniski, has been influencing the course of bass music by bringing a one-person show to the stage. After rapping on the funky collaboration “Medusa” with Griz in 2020, Wisniski has been releasing nothing but bangers, giving the dance community something to bounce to.

Not only does he produce some of the wompiest jams out there right now, but he also raps on a lot of his tracks, and can be caught breaking it down hard at any of his shows. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Wisniski mashes his pride into his music, giving his own style of experimental bass a huge flare. He will definitely be the spiciest show at SMF 2022.

5. Boogie T

Louisiana-born and raised Brock Thorton, AKA Boogie T, is known for bringing funk and blues to bass music, giving his fans the ultimate jam session. He has been working on his talents since the young age of six by learning piano, by age eight the guitar, and by 14 he was giving lessons in both instruments.

Growing up playing in local blues shows, now selling out shows all over the US, he incorporates his roots into his own twist on riddim and dubstep. Thorton is becoming a pioneer in the new sounds that are sweeping the electronic community, always raising the bar that rail-riders use to headbang. If you want a fresh take on anything from bass to DNB, make sure you are at Boogie T’s set at SMF 2022.

These are a few of the mind blowing talents Sunset Music Festival is bringing to the sunshine state May 27-29, 2022. Check out the full schedule below to plan your weekend and click here to buy tickets here.
