Travel Ban From Europe To U.S. Due To Coronavirus Could Send The Music Industry Spiraling

Tonight the Trump administration announced a strict travel ban to combat the Coronavirus outbreak. Starting on Friday at midnight, all travel from Europe to the United States will be suspended for at least the next 30 days.

“To keep new cases from entering our shores, we will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days,” Mr. Trump said in an address to the nation. However, he made an exception for the U.K and said he would monitor the situation to determine if travel could be reopened earlier. This news comes as UK coronavirus cases rise to 460 and the UK death toll hits eight.

This is just another hit the music industry will take as the Coronavirus outbreak continues. The impacts are far-reaching and will impact travel for DJ’s coming to the United States in the next 30 days, and possibly beyond.

With Miami Music Week and Beyond Wonderland coming up in the next few weeks, DJ’s might have to rebook their travel itineraries, as it may be possible to fly in through the UK for any DJ’s coming in from Europe. Only time will tell if DJ’s will have to fully back out of their scheduled performances. This comes on the heels of an already wild day for the music industry as Livenation stocks tumbled, losing nearly $1 billion dollars in just one day alone. The drop in Livenation stock closely followed the postponement of both Coachella and Stagecoach, which are run by event producers AEG.
