SiriusXM Debuts “Virtual Disdance Festival” Featuring Exclusive Avicii Set

Popular radio channel SiriusXM is set to debut its first live stream event with Virtual Disdance Festival this weekend. The festival will span three days from Friday May 22 to Sunday May 24, 2020 along with a replay on Monday May 25. Virtual Disdance Festival (a play on “distance”) is set to be one of the largest virtual festivals yet featuring exclusive live sets from the top electronic music artists around the world. As a highlight, the event will also feature a highly-anticipated broadcast of an unreleased Avicii set from a 2011 SiriusXM event.

The three-day festival will be hosted by The Chainsmokers, the American DJ duo that earned their first Grammy back in 2017 and has become a staple at electronic music events worldwide. The event will be broadcast via the SiriusXM BPM station, which is exclusive to electronic music. The event will be free for all to attend, including those that are not subscribed to the SiriusXM network. As part of this event, all proceeds will benefit MusiCares to provide COVID-19 relief to thousands of music industry professionals to help them through this difficult time of canceled events.

Aside from helping industry professionals, SiriusXM is dedicated to bringing the best in dance music to the comfort of your living room. Artists will be taking the stages from their own homes and featuring brand new sets that have been curated exclusively for this event. The lineup features performances by Above & Beyond, Marshmello, Afrojack, Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Deadmau5, Gryffin, Kaskade, Krewella, Kygo, Love Regenerator, Don Diablo, Galantis, Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens, Loud Luxury, MK, 3Lau, Nicky Romero, Steve Aoki, Tiesto, and more.

One of the most anticipated portions of this weekend-long event is the exclusive broadcast dedicated to Avicii (also known as Tim Bergling). In 2018, the beloved DJ and producer took his life after a long-term battle with depression. In news that shook the entire electronic music industry to its core, the community continues to pay tribute to the late Avicii through tributes during sets and events that raise money for mental health awareness including the Avicii Tribute Concert that took place this past December. This weekend, SiriusXM will be featuring an unreleased, exclusive set from an event that took place with SiriusXM back in 2011. The set by Avicii will be broadcast on Saturday at 2PM PST.

The event this weekend is certain to be one for the books as SiriusXM brings fans together with their favorite artists for the virtual party of a lifetime. The event kicks off on Friday May 22 at 2PM PST and runs through Sunday. To sign up for free listening through the end of May on the SiriusXM station, head here. Check out the full event page here and tune in this weekend for three days of dancing and the best in electronic music.
