100 People Caught Having Illegal Beach Rave On National Trust Site

Over the weekend, 100 people were caught by police for having an illegal beach rave on a National Trust site in Merseyside, England. Police responded to a phone call in the early hours of Sunday morning about an illegal rave on the beach which is a direct breach of COVID-19 guidelines. Two individuals were arrested for having both Class A and Class B drugs and various DJ’ing equipment was also taken. Police reacted more intensely than usual due to the recently discovered and highly contagious COVID-19 variant which initially appeared in South Africa and has now started to appear in England. Even though signs were posted outside of the beach, fellow party-goers did not oblige to the COVID-19 guidelines.

Deputy Chief Constable Serena Kennedy commented, ‘Those who attended the event last night were astoundingly irresponsible.” She also went on to comment that, “It is important as ever that our communities in Sefton and across Merseyside stick to the national lockdown rules.” Recent illegal raves similar to this one have started to pop up more and more due to the lack of live events. Although we all would like to return to live events, it is important to continue to keep ourselves and others safe by following all COVID-19 guidelines.
