A new documentary exploring gender inequality in electronic dance music staring REZZ, Alison Wonderland, TOKiMONSTA & more is available now for streaming.
‘Underplayed,’ is a new documentary that focuses on the gender inequalities in electronic dance music. The documentary features REZZ, Alison Wonderland, Nervo, and TOKiMONSTA but also pays tribute to Wendy Carlos and Suzanne Ciani. Underplayed first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September of 2020 and is now available to stream as a celebration of Women’s History Month. The film provides an insight look at both the highs and lows as well as the pressure women face while performing as headlining DJs. The film also features Anna Lunoe, and DJ Duffey as well as many more talented artists and musicians.
All of these female DJs have broken into a primarily male-oriented industry and have left an everlasting imprint within the industry. These stories and feelings are showed and exemplified in Underplayed.
