Variety: Coachella Music Festival Postponing To April 2022

Instead of taking place in October this year, Coachella is moving to April of 2022.

Variety has reported that the annual Coachella Valley festival has been moved to April of 2022. This will be the third time that Coachella has had to cancel within the past year. The reason being is due to the “ongoing uncertainty over the COVID-19 pandemic.” Although we are seeing more and more festivals being announced, Coachella sells roughly 125,000 “per-day tickets” almost instantly. Having an event of this size with the ongoing conditions surrounding COVID-19 would simply be unsafe and unprofessional. Stagecoach (California’s country music festival) will also be postponed until 2022.

Coachella was initially supposed to take place in April of 2020 but due to obvious reasons surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was postponed to October of 2020. Despite postponing to October, the festival had to be postponed again due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. The original 2020 lineup for Coachella featured Frank Ocean, Travis Scott & Rage Against The Machine. The festival has yet to announce whether or not it plans to keep the same lineup or not.

Although it is a bummer that the festival has been canceled for the second year in a row, we’re sure that Coachella 2022 will be bigger and better than ever.
