Tiësto recently teased the second single from his new alias, VER:WEST. Entitled “Elements of a New Life”, the track will be out on his label AFTR:HRS this Friday, July 16.
So far everything about the VER:WEST project links back to the Dutch producer’s early days of pioneering trance to a worldwide audience. The title “Elements Of A New Life” is a clear reference to Tiësto’s lauded 2007 LP Elements Of Life, while the first track from this new alias was entitled “5 Second Before Sunrise.” Yet another plain reference to a significant offering from Tiësto’s catalog. Specifically his track “Ten Seconds Before Sunrise.”
Beyond clear parallels between track titles from a previous era, VER:WEST alludes to Tiësto‘s earlier sound. Given his impressive ability to remain relevant regardless of sonic trends, some members of the EDM community may not realize his role in the evolution of trance music. It’s great to see him getting back to his roots of thumping kicks and progressive melodies.
Tiësto already performed his debut DJ set as VER:WEST in LA just recently on June 30. More sets and more music are hopefully coming soon. Check out the snippet of “Elements of a New Life” below!
