ID&T Stay Summary Proceedings With Dutch Government As Dialogue Opens

ID&T—the producer of world renowned music festivals including Mysteryland, Milkshake, and Decibel Outdoor—recently filed summary proceedings against the Dutch government. This move comes in response to the government’s recent strictures surrounding large-scale outdoor events.

Under the Dutch Parliament’s ruling, outdoor non-seated events would be essentially banned throughout the Netherlands. Organizers behind over 40 other notable events including F1 Dutch Grand Prix Zandvoort, DGTL, and Don’t Let Daddy Know also joined the lawsuit as plaintiffs.

After extensive debate, however, Minister Health Welfare and Sports, De Jonge, agreed to enter into a dialogue with ID&T and their legal representation, leading the plaintiffs to pause the lawsuit.

Ritty van Straalen, CEO of ID&T: “The support received from the Dutch Parliament in yesterday’s [July 14, 2021] debate and the willingness of Minister De Jonge to enter into a dialogue with the industry is welcomed by us and the parties that joined us and feels like a first step in the right direction. We hope that we can reach a constructive solution that allows events to take place in a safe manner as soon as possible.”

The impending dialogue between the parties involved will be centered around conducting large scale events while maintaining safety standards that will prevent COVID-19 from spreading.
