Rogue Burning Man Expected To Draw 20,000 Attendees To Black Rock Desert

Burning Man was unfortunately cancelled once again in 2021 due to the continuing spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Burners won’t let that stop them. A rogue version of the seminal gathering is set to occur on the Black Rock City Playa across this whole week from August 29 to September 5.

Several groups known throughout the Playa like Black Rock Plan B, Playa Poop Protocol, Unity 2021 Free Burn, RenegadeBurn, Renegade Man, and Rogue Burn, had a hand in producing this year’s version of Black Rock City. Over 500 camps are expected to exist at the event throughout the week offering all the outrageous expression for which Burning Man is known.

This iteration of Burning Man will be more similar to how it was in its early days. According to an Eventbrite page for the event, there will be no infrastructure whatsoever. No porta-potties, coffee or ice for sale. No speed limits for art cars, planned celebrity DJ sets, or VIP areas. Only human beings determined to build something special.

Nevada’s Bureau of Land Management can not restrict camping at the site as it is public land, however they have imposed rules such as no structures (including the man itself) and no fires other than campfires.

2020 was the first time Burning Man had been cancelled in its over 30-year history. A similar gathering took place in 2020 as well while the official event went virtual. To join virtual Burning Man 2021 click here.
