Burning Man Project Is Hosting An Auction So They Can Stay Afloat

Burning Man Project, the non-profit organization responsible for the yearly mega gathering Burning Man, is in financial trouble. After two consecutive years without revenue from their flagship event, they have resorted to hosting an auction to raise money for future operations.

ccording to an article from Billboard, they are planning to begin selling tickets to Burning Man 2022 this coming January, and the profits from the auction will be used to maintain their solvency until then.

The auction is named Boundless Space: The Possibilities of Burning Man. The organization is working with the renowned auction house, Sotheby’s, to sell sculptures, paintings, and even NFTs in support of continuing the Burning Man legacy.

The auction is especially focused on hosting art from BIPOC artists:

“In alignment with Burning Man Project’s commitment to Radical Inclusion, diversity, and equity, the organization is fostering new relationships by inviting work by Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color (BIPOC) artists,” reads a statement from the auction’s website.
