46 Lawsuits Have Now Been Filed In Relation To Astroworld Tragedy

Legal actions surrounding Travis Scott’s music festival, Astroworld, continue to mount. As of the morning of Wednesday, November 10, 46 lawsuits have been filed following the tragic events which took place last Friday, November 5 that left eight people dead and hundreds injured.

The lawsuits come on behalf of the victims and families of those who were injured or lost their lives at the event. The claims are reported to list Scott himself as well as organizers of the event including Live Nation and ScoreMore as defendants.

Astroworld took place at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Witnesses reported that a surge of the massive crowd around the time Scott’s headlining set caused significant distress among attendees. One lawsuit was filed by the family of a nine-year-old boy who is now in a medically induced coma after being nearly trampled to death during the festival.

The lawsuit for the boy claims that the organizers “egregiously failed in their duty to protect the health, safety, and lives of those in attendance at the concert.” Many of the other claims accuse organizers of legal negligence. This charge amounts to the organizers being reasonably aware of a threat to public safety and willfully disregarding it.

According to an article from Billboard, litigation surrounding the event could last for years and end with hundreds of millions of dollars in damages and settlements. There is also a criminal investigation underway in regard to the event.
