Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin recently went on television to apologize for clubbing maskless after being exposed to COVID-19. Marin had been in contact with another government official who was positive for the virus the day before she attended the nightclub.
Technically Marin followed COVID-19 procedures from the Finnish government. Marin is double-vaccinated, and the procedures state double-vaccinated individuals do not need to quarantine after being exposed to the virus.
However, there are apparently separate recommendations for government officials which suggest limiting social contact after exposure.
“I should have used better judgment and double-checked the guidance given to me,” Marin wrote in a Facebook post. “I am very sorry for not understanding that I needed to do that.”
As of now, Marin has not tested positive for the virus.
