In breaking his decade-long album hiatus, Carl Cox has released Electronic Generations, an LP of 17 originals, four remixes, and three collaborations.
Electronic Generations is Carl Cox’s first full-length album since 2012, although he has released a slew of “mixtape albums” in the meantime. His previous LP All Roads Lead to the Dance Floor contained 14 pieces that cemented Cox as the king of techno.
The album was originally supposed to come out in September 2022, but was delayed until December 2022 for unknown reasons.
The two parts of Electronic Generations see an A side with 17 solo originals from Cox himself, including a reprise of the title track, and a B side with joint projects.
The remixes all add something unique to the pure-techno tracks with a Drum & Bass rework of “Our Time Will Come” by Chase & Status and a piano house flip of “Speed Trials On Acid” by LF System. There are also three collaborations including Nicole Moudaber, Fatboy Slim, and Franky Wah.
