A new website has appeared that features Aphex Twin’s logo, the word “LONDON” and the URL “190823” which has led many online to believe that the veteran electronic artist, real name Richard D. James, is returning to live performances soon.
The URL is also the date of London’s Field Day festival at Victoria Park, an event Aphex Twin last headlined in 2017 and many speculate will be the producer’s first performance back.
The last time fans saw Aphex Twin live was in 2019, right after his last music release, the Peel Session 2 EP, and his sets at both Coachella and Printworks.
Aphex Twin was one of the originators of IDM, short for Intelligent Dance Music, and has been in the electronic music scene since 1991. Some of his most famous releases include the tracks “Come to Daddy” and “Windowlicker” as well as his more ambient techno album Drukqs.
Not much is known about the true meaning of the website or the return of Aphex Twin, but London Field Day will take place on August 19, 2023. Click here for more information.
