Tribe XR and the nonprofit Amp Ur Room have teamed up to teach DJing skills to hospital patients via virtual reality.
Tribe XR offers a virtual platform to learn DJing with masterclasses and workshops that are now being provided to children in hospitals as a creative outlet and escape.
Many of the children learning to DJ with this program spend large amounts of their time in isolation, and so the virtual experience creates a remote concert. Patients can learn a new skill and experience being a DJ without leaving their hospital bed.
The virtual platform creates a real-life experience mixing with Pioneer DJ CDJ-3000s and a DJM-900NXS2 Mixer. There are real EQ controls, loops, faders, and everything the real CDJ has to offer.
Once they have learned the basics, users can join friends to go back-to-back or stream their set live on Twitch, giving an extra sense of community to the patients.
Amp Ur Room delivers the music experience to pediatric hospital patients by bringing concerts, DJs, and entertainers to the bedside of those who cannot leave the hospital.
They work with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Austin City Limits, House of Blues, and more to offer music of all genres to those in need.
