One of Brazil’s most celebrated electronic music clubs, Warung Beach Club, has caught on fire and been burnt.
The club in Itajaí on the North Coast of Santa Catarina began to smoke at 10AM local time and soon was engulfed in smoke and flame. The fire was brought under control in just under two hours and no one was hurt.
According to an update from the Warung Beach Club, “the fire started in one of the club’s lanes and only material damage to the structure was recorded.” Keinemusik had just played the legendary club the night before the fire.
Warung Beach Club just celebrated its 20th anniversary last year with Charlotte de Witte, Four Tet, Seth Troxler, and more. Past performers include Tale of Us, Nina Kraviz, and Mind Against.
Resident Advisor marked it as one of the ten best clubs in the world in 2017. It was often called The Temple due to its large outdoor structure.
The organizers also host a Warung Day Festival which, this May, will host Adriatique, ANNA, Bedouin, and Camelphat along with a list of other incredible artists.
