A new low-cost Japanese airline, Zipair, is planning to launch cheap flights from Tokyo to San Francisco for as little as $352.
Beginning June 2, Zipair will add flights between Tokyo’s Narita International Airport and San Francisco International Airport, marking their fourth US destination. The airline already flies roundtrip between Tokyo and Los Angeles, Honolulu, and San Jose.
The flights will operate five times a week, with no options on Thursdays or Saturdays, for at little as $352 with children six years or younger for under $100.
For reference, the current cheapest flight on Google Flights, not involving Zipair, from San Francisco to Japan is around $1,366.
Zipair is one of the newest commercial airline carriers on the market, beginning from Honolulu to Japan in December 2020 and flying to a total of seven cities from its Tokyo center.
Tokyo has largely not been an available travel destination since the pandemic and the borders have only been open to independent travelers since Fall of 2022.
However, Japan plans to drop the remaining testing and vaccination rules on May 8, allowing more tourists into the country starting this summer.
