Coachella Hit With $117,000 Fine For Going Over Curfew All Three Nights

Festival curfews can be costly as it was reported Coachella is being fined $117,000 for curfew violations during the first weekend of the famed international festival.

Curfew is 1AM on Friday and Saturday and midnight on Sunday, but unfortunately Coachella went over their limits each day.

Each minute matters as festival organizers Goldenvoice have a contract with the City of Indio that fines them $20,000 for the first five minutes past curfew and another $1,000 for every minute after.

The sets went over by 25 minutes Friday, 22 minutes Saturday, and 25 minutes Sunday, leading to the hefty fine.

Much of the timing issues can be attributed to technical setbacks including audio issues during Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK appearing late to their set trickling down to put Calvin Harris over time, and Frank Ocean not performing until almost an hour after his scheduled time.

But the money does go to a good cause as it’s sent to Indio’s General Fund to cover operating costs and police and fire departments.

For those who couldn’t stay up past the curfew or missed Coachella 2023 weekend one, Coachella is slowly releasing clips from many of the sets. Check out the video from The Chemical Brothers‘ performance below:
