ODESZA’s First Remix In Eight Years Is A Stirring Version of Sudan Archives’ “Selfish Soul”

Superstar alternative electronic duo ODESZA have released their first remix in eight years, teaming up with esteemed singer-songwriter and impressive violinist Sudan Archives for a new version of her song “Selfish Soul.”

ODESZA has intertwined their famous soul-stirring sound with Archives’ impressionable violin patterns in the remix. An emotive soundscape compliments the pensive lyrics of “Selfish Soul,” which use women’s hair as a motif in exploring female identity in a world of distorted conceptions of beauty.

With ODESZA back on the festival circuit, the group debuted the song during a surprise DJ set at Coachella’s Do LaB stage on Saturday, which included live vocals from Archives, who went on to perform her own Coachella show on Sunday.

ODESZA’s last remix was an adaptation of “Divinity” for Porter Robinson’s Worlds (Remixed) LP in 2015.
