Unfortunately for Dirtybird’s feathered family, Dirtybird Campout 2023 has been postponed until 2024.
In 2022, Dirtybird Campout took place at the Modesto Reservoir Campgrounds, around two hours from Oakland and four and a half hours from Los Angeles.
But in the official announcement of the cancellation, Dirtybird claimed that they were looking for a new location closer to Southern California to host the event. To that end, they were unsuccessful in finding one.
The social media statement says, “We know how much Campout means to you and us and it makes this decision all the more difficult to make. We hope you understand and join us at Dirtybird CampINN in June this year! We’ll keep you notified when we get a solid option for Campout in 2024.”
Many independent festivals seem to be having issues securing venues this year. Desert Hearts Festival, another event that combines music and camping, moved from their Lake Perris location to the LA Coliseum for the 2023 edition after changes in venue requirements.
Desert Hearts clarified the difficulties of hosting a small camping festival, stating, “Due to recent changes in venue requirements and rising production costs, it’s become nearly impossible for independent festivals like ours to host camping events without compromising on the experience or burdening our community with high costs—something we refuse to do.”
But with Dirtybird CampINN firmly taking place in Orlando on June 8-11, 2023 there is still a place for the Dirtybird flock to come together this summer.
