A new study by Within Health has revealed the electronic artists most likely to make listeners feel confident.
Within Health, which supports recovery from eating disorders and disordered behavior, utilized body-positive playlists on Spotify and surveyed 1,000 music lovers to see which artists and genres contribute to confidence and positive self-image.
The data found that the top electronic artists who made listeners feel confident were Alesso, Avicii, Daft Punk, Seven Lions, and Tiësto with EDM representing 91% of body-positivity-themed playlists on Spotify.
The survey also revealed that only 24% of those with a positive body image listened to EDM.
Music is often tied with confidence and body image with 37% of respondents reporting that music contributed to body-positive thinking, while 28% of respondents said music videos detract from body confidence.
Among other genres, Lizzo was the top artist for body confidence with “Confident” by Demi Lovato and “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus appearing the most on body-positive playlists.
