Uber just unveiled a series of new features to help families and groups take safer and simpler rides.
There are several new elements aimed at integrating young people into Uber’s user base as they become old enough to want to use it as a form of transportation on their own.
This includes a family profile setting to link younger users to their parents on their own accounts for rides and Uber Eats.
There will also be teen accounts that will offer live trip-tracking and allow the parent to contact the driver directly. Furthermore, only certain drivers will be able to pick up the teen.
Uber riders in New York City and Los Angeles will also be able to order a car with a baby seat already installed.
In addition, group trips are about to become much easier with Group Grocery Orders, where users can split a grocery order and add items to a shared cart, plus the ability to add multiple addresses on a group trip that will then split the fare equally.
Lastly, Uber Boat will facilitate boat trips for up to eight people to cruise from mainland Greece to the islands around Mykonos.
Uber is looking to become a one-stop shop for all things travel. Just last week they planned an expansion of their flight booking feature in partnership with Hopper in the UK.
