Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland has given some updates on the infamous festival’s second edition, including confirmed funding and an upcoming Broadway musical.
McFarland posted a TikTok confirming that a play is in the works with modern music artists performing but structured as a stage production, tentatively called Fyre Fest 1.5.
The organizer also told journalists he wouldn’t star in the play, but would narrate it with an actor portraying him in the thick of the Fyre controversy.
But in big news for Fyre Festival 2.0, McFarland also attempted to calm fears over the financial situation, saying those owed money in the first Fyre Festival scandal are currently being reimbursed.
The organizers appear to be getting help with the monetary logistics, adding partners to make sure aspects like bathrooms, lodging, and food run smoother than the initial edition.
In 2018, McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison for crimes related to the festival, of which he served four before being released.
