A new baby’s young life is often measured in “firsts.” First cries, first teeth, first words, first steps.
But at EDC Las Vegas last weekend, one infant child was all too eager to skip these lesser milestones and get right down to business: her first rave.
The new mother Cristina Celis was pregnant at EDC on Saturday when she unexpectedly went into early labor, as revealed on Twitter.
Grammy-winning DJ and producer Zedd quickly learned of the rumor that “someone gave birth at the stage” during his EDC set, prompting him to hunt for the mother and give his support.
Soon after, the new mother Celis introduced herself online and confirmed that she indeed had “a beautiful baby girl.”
Celis added that she is grateful for the festival’s onsite medical team who helped to safely transport her from the crowd, as well as the outpour of support from the rave community, inspiring her to change the baby’s middle name to Daisy.
“Thank you to the first aid team for all your help, you were all super helpful and caring,” she wrote. “This was going to be our last EDC for the next couple of years. Can’t wait to show our little raver the ways.”
Zedd replied to congratulate the new family, writing, “So happy you’re both healthy and that I had the honor to be the soundtrack.”
We too wish the new baby and her family a happy and healthy life, and we look forward to seeing her on the rail in a few years time.
