Insomniac Donates Approximately $200,000 In Trees And Plants From EDC Las Vegas

Insomniac Events is doing its part to practice PLUR even after the conclusion of EDC Las Vegas, reportedly donating around $200,000 worth of plants and trees that were in use on the festival grounds.

With the festival now concluded, the plants needed a new home and were sent off to be sown across Clark County, Nevada—the local jurisdiction that presides over the Las Vegas Strip.

Clark County voiced its thanks on Twitter and added that many of the plants and trees will go to Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick’s district in an effort to fight urban heat island impacts in Northeast Las Vegas.

According to Kirkpatrick, these impacts make concrete-covered urban areas up to seven degrees warmer than areas with plants and trees, an important statistic in Las Vegas, where average high temperatures in the summer months reach 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Las Vegas ABC affiliate KTNV reported that about 70 Las Vegas families came to pick the recycled plants to grow in their own homes.

Insomniac has participated in charitable giving before, donating a percentage of ticket sales from each EDC to various Las Vegas nonprofits and charitable funds—more than $2 million since 2011.
