This past weekend at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Skrillex was forced to pause his set due to a fire on stage during his performance.
The internationally acclaimed DJ and producer was playing on Friday, June 2, when a light above the DJ booth appeared to catch fire. The music was stopped and a “technical error” was announced.
The festival confirmed the fire with audience videos showing the stage crew using fire extinguishers to put it out. No injuries were reported and the set resumed minutes later, according to DJ Mag.
Primavera Sound is an international music festival, holding three editions this year: June 1-3 in Barcelona, June 8-10 in Madrid, and a simultaneous scaled-down event happening June 8-10 in Porto, Portugal.
The 2023 event has a theme of balance with each city mirroring the other in a plural and gender-balanced lineup under the tagline, “Wherever, however, I’ll be your mirror.”
This year’s 21st edition is full of historic names like Depeche Mode, Rosalía, and Kendrick Lamar joined by dance music favorites Calvin Harris, Diplo, Ben Böhmer, Channel Tres, and CamelPhat.
