Disclosure just dropped a bombshell by announcing their fourth album, ALCHEMY, will be out this Friday.
Alchemy is unique to the chart-topping artists in that it has no guest features and no samples. The brothers, Guy and Howard Lawrence, are releasing the LP independently and they don’t intend to tour it straight away.
The theme is freedom and expression, written just after Disclosure wrapped up the tour for their 2020 album ENERGY last year.
The brothers were in very different phases of their lives prior to this album: Guy was recently married and settling into a new home in Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles while Howard was reeling from heartbreak and exhausted from a 150-date tour.
Howard said about the writing process, “There was this combination of deep heartbreak and sadness, but also deep admiration and appreciation. Let’s turn this horrible feeling into something beautiful. The whole idea was to channel pain into beauty—which, in hindsight, is always the aim.”
“This record is a celebration of us feeling liberated right now,” says Guy. “We’re no longer signed to a major record label. We’re not going to tour this record. We can do whatever we like and be super creative.”
Hopefully, these songs will have the same addictive quality as Disclosure’s most recent releases, the 2022 single “Waterfall” and their most recent album, 2020’s Energy.
Those who will be the first to hear the new LP live are attendees of the just announced free party in a secret location in London as well as at Friday, July 14’s pre-sale sold-out show at The Cause.
