Lollaplooza To Power Part Of Billie Eilish’s 2023 Headlining Set With Solar

Lollapalooza is going green for Billie Eilish as they partner with environmental nonprofit REVERB to use solar power for part of her performance.

On August 3, the headlining set will be partially powered by a zero-emissions battery system charged by a temporary solar farm right on the festival’s grounds.

The system will be supplied and managed by Overdrive Energy Solutions and will help reduce the need for diesel-powered generators while showing other festivals and promoters alike how clean energy can be utilized to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

This groundbreaking campaign is a part of REVERB’s Music Decarbonization Project which Eilish helped launch and fund to make the music industry more sustainable.

Lollapalooza’s partnership hopes to utilize clean energy technology to power many of their large stages and drive the live music industry away from widely used diesel-powered generators.

Adam Gardner of REVERB said about the campaign, “We hope and believe this will be a watershed moment for the music industry. There are real climate solutions available right here, right now. By showcasing this technology with one of the biggest artists in the world, on one of the most revered festival stages, we’re accelerating the necessary transition toward a decarbonized future, for music and beyond.”
