Canadian duo Smalltown DJs and the powerful Joanna Magik just released their infectious house collaboration, “Energy,” with vocals from Techno Tupac, out now via Dirtybird Records.
This track is cut with abrupt percussive hits, reverbed synth stabs, and deep, thumping basslines that stream with a spreading groove.
Topping off the unrelenting rhythms, Techno Tupac’s elevating vocals reverberate throughout as he sings “Every time you touch me I feel energy”. Just as its name suggests, “Energy” was built for those with the stamina to burn.
Smalltown DJs, comprising Pete Emes and Mike Grimes, find inspiration from a diverse musical background. Their unique sound originated from the fusion of old-style hip-hop block parties, punk rock performances at community halls, and the vibrant rave scene of the early nineties.
Beyond her musical talents, Joanna Magik also embraces a meaningful role as an ambassador for LP Giobbi‘s Femme House, a platform dedicated to empowering and supporting underrepresented genders in the dance music scene.
Joanna Magik’s multifaceted background as a professional athlete and sports announcer, which includes being part of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, sheds light on the source of her boundless energy and unwavering advocacy for health and movement.
Her passion for music and athleticism seamlessly merge, resulting in a compelling force that captivates both her audience and those she empowers.
