Armin van Buuren took attendees of Romania’s UNTOLD Festival by surprise on Sunday, extending his scheduled three-hour set to five hours and playing until 8AM.
Van Buuren took the main stage at UNTOLD – held inside of the Cluj Arena in Cluj-Napoca – at 3AM local time. The DJ, producer, and A State Of Trance radio host was scheduled to play until 6AM, but instead of simply closing out the main stage, he closed out the entire festival.
Van Buuren shares an intimate history with UNTOLD festival, having played at its first five editions from 2015 to 2019. For the festival’s fifth anniversary in 2019, he performed an exclusive set that lasted over seven hours.
The Dutch artist has repeatedly shared that UNTOLD is one of his “favorite festivals of the year,” even using the Romanian hymn “Deșteaptă-te Române” to open his set in 2019.
Fans joined van Buuren on stage and danced well into daylight hours to the tune of beloved anthem “Blah Blah Blah” as seen in van Buuren’s most recent Instagram post.
Accompanying the post, van Buuren wrote, “I am so happy that I also had some of you on the stage surrounding me – it made me feel your energy even more! Thanks a lot and I hope I will see you soon.”
Van Buuren will next head to SonneMondSterne Festival in Jena, Germany, and Creamfields North, before bringing his A State of Armin takeover to Ushuaïa Ibiza for four straight weekends next month.
