Online live music collection Live Music Archive now has over 250,000 concert recordings available from 2019 to 1959 all free to watch online.
There’s a variety of genres and artists listed including jam-band favorites like Goose and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, cult-favorite Dead & Company, legend Lotus, and Hulaween hosts The String Cheese Incident.
Live Music Archive was first launched in 2002 to collect recordings of live gigs and performances and now holds more than a quarter of a million recordings.
Many of the live recordings were uploaded by fans and volunteers with nearly 30 items a day put up on the site.
Founder of the Internet Archive, Brewster Kahle, called the collection “a huge victory for the open web” on the Internet Archive Blogs.
“It shouldn’t cost to give something away,” Kahle explained. “We wanted to make it possible for people to make things permanently available without having to sell their souls to a platform that is going to exploit it for advertising. That just seemed like the world that should exist, and we thought we could play a role.”
More than 8,000 artists have given audio recording permissions throughout the website’s 20-year history.
