A new, “100-percent artist-run” venue is coming to Glasgow, Scotland.
The 400-capacity space, called EXIT, will make its grand opening this weekend, with two fundraising parties on September 8-9. The parties will begin with live performances from 8PM-10PM, followed by DJ sets from until 3AM.
The aim of the fundraisers is to raise £5,000 for the “DIY style project” which seeks to “breathe new” life into a formerly unoccupied space. The venue’s location has yet to be announced and will be released prior to this weekend’s parties.
The venue has also set up a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to secure the money needed to purchase additional necessary equipment, as well as “to encourage a membership model of participation in art and music scenes in Glasgow.”
“We aim to bring the local scene together and create a platform for exchange between artists, musicians, and DJs,” EXIT’s team told Resident Advisor. “We’re not genre-specific and we’re focusing on bringing diverse, unpredictable, and often secret unannounced lineups, with the majority of programming done in-house.”
The team added that in addition to the membership structure, they will have “sliding scale tickets available and will strive to support various local communities with fundraiser events.”
A number of local artists will perform at this weekend’s opening event. Check out the lineup below, and click here to purchase tickets.
