After a five-year hiatus, the Grammy-winning electronic trio NERO has returned with an attention-grabbing track, “Truth,” the first single off their long-awaited third studio album.
“Truth” proves NERO is back with a vengeance, reemerging with a heavy cinematic record perfect for heading into Halloween weekend.
The song makes a statement right from the beginning with a dramatic intro before flipping into a midtempo build and dropping into a deep and sexy bass melody that feels just as haunting as it is addictive.
Laid over the melodic elements is a sample of Amanda Palmer reading Neil Gaiman’s The Mushroom Hunters, a poem that references motherhood and humanity’s capacity for both creation and destruction, themes essential to NERO.
The trio is also soon dropping a larger-than-life video for “Truth” that embodies the awe-inspiring energy that is NERO.
“Truth” is the first single off NERO’s third studio album, Into The Unknown, which will be released sometime in 2024.
The new LP will close out the band’s album trilogy which began all the way back in 2011 with the Grammy-winning Welcome Reality.
“Truth” was written four years ago as the portal into this concluding chapter, taking listeners from the post-apocalyptic world of the first two albums into what lies ahead for humanity.
Fans can expect a nod to NERO’s jungle and drum & bass roots on Into The Unknown as 2024 commemorates their 20th anniversary as an electronic force.
