With the dance music community and the world at large still reeling from the attack on the Universo Paralello Festival in Israel, a collection of Israeli producers, promoters, and music professionals from the grassroots organization Electronic Music Community (EMC) have come together to produce a compilation of over 50 dance tracks, all proceeds of which will go to aid survivors and the families of victims.
The unprecedented attack, which took place on October 7, 2023, at the psytrance festival also known as Supernova, claimed the lives of at least 260 people, with many more taken hostage, according to CNN.
The charitable compilation, titled #BringThemBack, features a diverse range of electronic genres from trance and techno, to melodic house and EDM, and includes contributions from artists like Red Axes, Adam Ten, Astrix, Infected Mushroom, Shpongle, Vini Vici, Kino Todo, Magit Cacoon and many more.
Though EMC is composed of Israeli artists and professionals, the organization states that it “does not have a political agenda or affiliation,” instead setting its sights on “raising awareness and support for the hostages in Gaza” and “the rehabilitation of survivors of the attack at Supernova.”
EMC is currently working with official representatives of the families of hostages, as well as the Tel Aviv Foundation, to ensure that generated funds will support them directly.
With recovery efforts ongoing, including a “rehabilitation compound” set up by the Supernova community and festival organizers Tribe of Nova, EMC is also planning to produce another volume of the #BringThemBack compilation, which will feature additional artists from around the world.
The global dance music community can support EMC’s initiative by purchasing the compilation via Bandcamp, donating to EMC through Giveback, or purchasing a t-shirt at EMC’s website.
