Aluna Launches New Label Noir Fever, Championing Black Women And LGBTQ+ Artists

Today, singer, songwriter, DJ, and producer extraordinaire Aluna has announced the launch of her new record label Noir Fever.

A subsidiary of EMPIRE, Noir Fever will celebrate Black dance music with a particular focus on Black women and LGBTQ+ artists.

The ethos of the new label began with Aluna’s 2020 open letter to the dance music industry calling for “a long-term plan to secure a healthy future for dance music that is culturally and racially inclusive.”

Curated Noir Fever events began earlier this year, taking place in venues like Barcelona’s Razzmatazz, Lido Berlin and Metropolis in London.

Now, with the Noir Fever label, Aluna will continue to champion Black and queer voices, as done with her critically acclaimed album MYCELiUM earlier this year.

The project featured artists like KOOLDRINK, Roofeeo, Pabllo Vittar, TSHA, Kareen Lomax, and MNEK, and also saw Aluna earn her first Billboard No. 1 spot as a solo artist for “Running Blind.”

“I started Noir Fever records as a key component to my 360 strategy of making sustainable and effective change to the future of Black dance music, an idea which was birthed as a response to my own letter to the dance music industry in 2020,” Aluna said in a press release.

“Investment in the recording side is essential to fostering emerging talent and by focusing on Black women and the queer community I can ensure that everyone is being uplifted,” she continued.

Aluna has also announced the first project signed to Noir Fever is Montreal-based dance music collective Moonshine. The group of like-minded musicians, DJs, dancers, and visual artists has been throwing killer underground parties in Montreal for years and have today released their debut single “Pain & Pleasure” via Noir Fever.

Aluna will wrap up her year—which included numerous festival dates and her own MYCELiUM headline tour—with a special Noir Fever event at Elsewhere in Brooklyn this weekend, followed by a one-off headline gig in Australia on November 19.
