On August 17, 2024, hundreds of thousands of ravers will once again flood the streets of Berlin for Rave The Planet. The iconic mobile techno festival, which last year attracted 300,000 attendees, that is united under one motto: “Music is the answer.”
Effectively a rebirth of the city’s historic Loveparade, which ran annually for the better part of 20 years in the German capital, Rave The Planet invited people from all over the world to dance for “peace and for the preservation of electronic music and club culture” at its second event last July.
Spread across 25 different parade floats, last year’s gathering featured performances from over 200 artists from all over the world, including DJs like Anja Schneider, Timo Maas, Klaudia Gawlas, and more, as well as a very special speech from Berlin’s Senator for Culture, Joe Chialo.
“Today is a special day for Berlin. Here, a tradition is continued that has shaped our city, namely the Loveparade,” Chialo said in his speech. “After painful wrong decisions in the past, which led to the expulsion of the old Loveparade in Berlin, it is a great pleasure to see that this, Berlin’s original event, is back here in Berlin at home.”
Founded in 1989 as a combined political protest and party, Loveparade attracted more than a million attendees each year at the height of its popularity, before the event was dissolved after a tragic crowd crush claimed the lives of 21 people in 2010.
Now over a decade later, Rave The Planet is carrying the same energy of the original Loveparade into the future with their third event next summer. Organizers are now accepting proposals for floats through January 31, 2024.
