Today, West Coast music production school IO Music Academy has announced a new scholarship program “dedicated to the next generation of aspiring music producers.”
In partnership with There Is A Light Foundation, IO Music Academy will be awarding 20 scholarships totaling $70,000 worth of courses in Los Angeles and their new San Francisco location opening in Spring 2024.
Ten winners in each location will be placed in one of IO’s 6-month music production programs–which would otherwise cost $3,500–and will also receive monthly one-on-one mentorship sessions with IO team members, access to studio space, and specialized weekly workshops with established artists and industry pros.
“We’re thrilled to be able to provide such a great opportunity to so many aspiring artists seeking to realize their musical dreams,” IO Music Academy COO Adam Weimann said in a press release.
Since 2017, IO Music Academy has provided “forward-thinking” music production in Los Angeles. A focus on hands-on learning and practical application has helped advance the careers of notable alumni including Madame Gandhi, Mary Droppinz, and Travis Emmons.
Scholarship applications are due by January 1, 2024. Winners will be announced on January 9 before classes begin on January 15 at the Los Angeles location and later on in the year at the San Francisco location.
All applicants must live in either city in order to attend classes, lessons, and studio time in person. For more information about submission guidelines and requirements, visit IO Music Academy’s application page.
