Rumors That Live Nation Has Purchased Electric Zoo Begin To Swirl Online

As the never-ending Electric Zoo (EZoo) debacle continues, rumors of new festival ownership have begun swirling online.

In a post on r/electriczoo earlier this week, one Reddit user shared a screenshot of a text message in which one party claimed that EZoo’s Avant Gardner owners had sold the NYC festival to significant concert promoter Live Nation.

The anonymous Reddit source claimed that Avant Gardner has “bought their way out of the legal issues with the city.”

In September, New York City Mayor Eric Adams suggested legal action could be taken against organizers due to the festival’s unsafe conditions, which included a gatecrashing incident and overselling the event by an NYPD estimate of 7,000 tickets.

Avant Gardner has also been under fire for reportedly overselling tickets at its popular Brooklyn Mirage venue by as much as 33 percent, according to Gothamist. The ownership group has remained in hot water in the months following EZoo 2023, with many ticket holders turning to credit card chargebacks as their only source of reparation. Duly promised point-of-sale refunds have remained unfulfilled, and class-action lawsuits are being prepared.

Considering the new rumors and Live Nation’s ownership of Insomniac, many fans have now begun to speculate that EDC could return to the Big Apple for the first time since 2016. However, any new ownership of Electric Zoo remains unconfirmed at this time.
