Barclay Crenshaw has just released the first single, “Big In The Game,” off his anticipated upcoming album Open Channel.
Once referred to as Claude Von Stroke and the previous owner of Dirtybird Records, Barclay Crenshaw is choosing to take a new direction with his music and revamp a whole new sound for himself.
His new stage name comes from his actual legal name, Barclay Crenshaw.
“Big In The Game” is the first of his upcoming album tracks and comes out swinging. Utilizing UK Grime roots and mixing in Hip Hop, “Big In The Game” is a testament that Crenshaw is here to stay in the world of bass music.
Using not one but two MCs in the song, Snowy and Manga Saint Hilare both hype up listeners with their repeating tagline “mans’ too big in the game, we’re not the ones to get played.” The song comes as a highly anticipated introduction to Crenshaw’s new sound.
Crenshaw has been releasing videos on Instagram documenting an 80-day journey of his creative process creating Open Channel.
He wants to document this process as a mental check-in for himself and document the struggles and wins that occur when creating a whole new album. He has stated on the page he hasn’t seen another artist do this and wants to pioneer this dialogue.
The new record is only the beginning for Crenshaw, as he is simultaneously gearing up for his Open Channel Tour and has already released a warehouse set video.
