Justice is officially back.
Today, the legendary French electro house duo comprised of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay announced that their comeback album, Hyperdrama, will arrive on April 26, 2024, via joint release by Ed Banger Records and Because Music.
The new album will be Justice’s fourth studio LP and their first since 2016’s Woman. The only work to materialize from either member of the esteemed pair in the time since Woman is Augé’s 2021 solo album, Escapades.
Justice has celebrated the album campaign by sharing two singles from the forthcoming project, “Generator” and “One Night/All Night,” which feature dreamy vocals from Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.
“We wanted this track to sound as if a dark/techno iteration of Justice had found a sample of a disco iteration of Kevin Parker,” Justice said of “One Night/All Night” in a press release.
“This song oscillates between pure electronic music and pure disco but you never really get the two at the same time,” they continued.
Conversely, “Generator” puts a hard edge on the disco melodies found in “One Night/All Night.”
“To us, this one sounds like ‘Getaway’ by The Salsoul Orchestra, but with gabber and classic 90s hardcore techno sounds,” the band said. “Disco/funk and electronic music at large have always been core elements of the music we make as Justice. In Hyperdrama, we make them coexist, but not in a peaceful way. We like this idea of making them fight a bit for attention.”
Justice has also unveiled 14 new tour dates that will follow the group’s return to the stage at Coachella in April. Notable stops on the 2024 Justice tour include Festival Vaivén in Mexico, Primavera Sound in Spain, and seven shows in their home country of France. A complete list of tour dates is available on their website.
During their five-year hiatus, Justice celebrated the 15th birthday of their twice Grammy-nominated debut album †, or “Cross,” with an anniversary reissue, in addition to sharing the original demo and remixes of their 2007 mega-hit “D.A.N.C.E.”
