Skrillex, Fred again.. & Flowdan’s hit single “Rumble” won Best Dance/Electronic Recording at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.
The track beat out nominated recordings in the category from electronic colleagues Aphex Twin, James Blake, Disclosure and Romy & Fred again… The award marks Skrillex’s ninth Grammy win, Fred again..’s second and Flowdan’s first, making the East London grime rapper the first British MC to win a Grammy.
Accepting the award at last night’s Grammy Premiere Ceremony at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Skrillex said, “For anyone out there that wants to make music, the best advice I’ve ever gotten is that success is something you attract, not something that you try to chase or catch.”
“Big love to Fred again.., big love to Flowdan,” Skrillex said of his “Rumble” collaborators. “Flowdan is one of the biggest inspirations in underground music in my life. To have a Grammy with those guys, my best friends making music that we just love, not trying to make a hit, not trying to do anything but push music forward, this is for those guys, and thank you everybody.”

The Recording Academy also credited the Grammy for “Rumble” to Jamaican-American rapper BEAM–whose sampled lyrics from Skrillex’s “Selecta” feature on the track–and American vocalist Elley Duhé.
Fred again..’s second Grammy on the night was awarded for Actual Life 3, which beat out LPs from James Blake, The Chemical Brothers, Skrillex and Kx5 for the mantle of Best Dance/Electronic Album. Fred again.. was also nominated for Best New Artist, losing out to R&B vocalist Victoria Monét.
Elsewhere, Kylie Minogue’s “Padam Padam” won Best Dance Pop Recording ahead of tracks from Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Troye Sivan.
