New Algoriddim Djay Software Allows Users To Mix In Virtual Reality With Apple’s New VR Headset

Algoriddim has unveiled a new version of its DJ software, Algoriddim djay, giving users the ability to mix music in virtual reality with Apple’s newly launched Vision Pro VR headset.

Arriving just in time for the futuristic headset’s release last Friday, the new Algoriddim djay app superimposes a 3D set of “hyperrealistic” virtual decks in the wearer’s field of vision and utilizes various gesture controls to select and mix tracks and adjust audio FX. 

Users can play in one of four unique environments like the “Space Lounge”–featuring dancing robots–and interact with the virtual turntables “in the same way you would use a physical record player,” like dragging the needle or scratching vinyl. A simple gesture towards one’s ear–as if holding a pair of headphones–will allow users to preview their next track.

Resulting from a longstanding partnership between Algoriddim and Apple, the newly launched software is fully integrated with Apple Music, giving virtual DJs the power to stream millions of tracks and playlists directly from the cloud-based platform’s extensive catalog.

This streaming partnership has also been extended to the iOS and macOS versions of Algoriddim djay, so those using the software without a Vision Pro headset can mix with Apple Music’s catalog too.

Algorriddim djay is now available for free download from the Apple App Store. However, Apple Music integration is only available with an Algoriddim djay Pro subscription, which starts at $6.99 per month. Existing Apple Music subscribers can sign up for a two-month free trial of Algoriddim djay Pro.

Algoriddim djay is now the second software that gives users to ability DJ in virtual reality, following online DJ academy TribeXR’s launch on Meta’s Quest headset in 2021.
