Red Rocks Undergoes Major Renovations Ahead Of 2024 Concert Season

With the 2024 concert season approaching, the Red Rocks team is working hard to complete several significant renovations to Morrison, Colorado’s iconic outdoor venue.

According to the Denver Post, a large portion of the venue’s Visitor’s Center is being completely redone, including the Ship Rock Grille restaurant–soon to feature an indoor-outdoor bar and outdoor dining space–the Rock Room rental area, various hallway photo galleries and the Theater room, which contains signed memorabilia, posters and other artifacts from Red Rocks’ rich history.

Crews are adding new light poles and sidewalks to Red Rocks’ Upper North, Upper South and Lower South 1 parking lots. The Lower South 1 lot will also feature a new set of stairs connecting the lot to the Trading Post and south venue entrance.

Several improvements are also being made to better comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), like adding new ADA parking spots and bathrooms, adjusting ramps, and making the Top Circle, an area reserved for disabled concertgoers, easier to navigate.

On show day, attendees will notice an all-new security protocol that utilizes the Evolve magnetometer system, replacing wands and bag searches upon entry to the venue. Other minor renovations include a new retaining wall and light poles in the plaza at the venue’s top.

Each of these improvements is part of Red Rocks’ phase one renovation plan, and is expected to be completed by mid-May. Another batch of phase two renovations will begin in the fall of 2024.

“There will still be a little bit of work after the season starts due to frozen-ground and asphalt issues, but we’re trying to pull all of this off in the next few weeks,” Red Rocks Venue Director Tad Bowman told the Denver Post. “It’s always a climb.”

Following a landmark 2023 in which it ranked as the world’s fourth best-attended music venue, Red Rocks will kick off its 2024 season with a performance from Boogie T on March 30, before Marshmello and SVDDEN DEATH bring their MELLODEATH Tour to town on April 4.
