Gesaffelstein has just announced his first album in five years.
Sharing the news with a two-minute audiovisual teaser for the project, the iconic French producer–Mike Lévy– revealed that GAMMA will arrive on March 29, 2024.
The teaser video lists 11 total tracks that will feature on the Skrillex-approved album, with titles like “Digital Slaves,” “The Urge” and “Emet,” among others.
GAMMA will mark Gesaffelstein’s first full-length LP since 2019’s wildly influential Hyperion, which featured “Lost in the Fire,” a collaboration with The Weeknd and one of the artist’s most popular tracks.
With further contributions from artists like Pharell Williams and HAIM, the more pop-leaning Hyperion stood as a slight divergence from the dark and distorted electro sounds found on earlier Gesaffelstein works, like 2013’s Aleph. However, Gesaffelstein’s new video indicates that GAMMA will see the production legend dive back into his avant-garde dance mischief.
Though rumors of an upcoming tour remain unconfirmed, the midtempo pioneer is preparing for an epic return to Coachella this April, where he delivered one of his last live performances in 2019.
Also featuring a return performance from fellow French stalwarts Justice, the festival is poised to be the epicenter of a significant resurgence for French electro this year, with both acts mounting major comebacks for 2024.
