How far would you go for a guest list spot in Ibiza? A 21-year-old Macclesfield, UK native has announced his plans to walk from Manchester to the Balearic island entirely on foot.
With support from Ocean Beach Ibiza club owner Wayne Lineker, Henry Moores will begin his 60-day journey on March 2, trekking over 1,400 miles through England, France and Spain to arrive just in time for Ocean Beach’s season opening on May 3.
Moores first shared his plan with Lineker via Instagram earlier this month, to which the nightlife magnate and TV personality replied, “Bro.. you have to be kidding??,” adding that he will personally receive Moores in Ibiza and that they “can have a shot to celebrate.”
Moores and Lineker then shared an official announcement video. When asked why he wants to walk to Ibiza, Moores, who has never been to the White Isle before, replied, “To be honest, I can’t afford the flight.”
“We’re going to get a group of us on the 2nd to meet him and walk the final walk back to Ocean with man like Henry,” Lineker added.
Moores’ route will see him walk 315 miles from Manchester to Portsmouth, 1,130 miles from Caen, France to Denia, Spain, and then a final 19 miles from Ibiza Town to Ocean Beach. He will travel by ferry from Portsmouth to Caen and from Denia to Ibiza Town.
In addition to saving him money that might be otherwise spent on a plane ticket, Moores’ walk will benefit the Tony Hudgell Foundation, a charity that provides support to children impacted by physical, psychological or emotional abuse.
This won’t be Moores’ first charity walk either. In 2023, he walked from Macclesfield to Paris, raising nearly £20,000 (over $25,000 USD) to provide Christmas meals and gifts, rent money, counseling, school supplies and more for the less fortunate in Cheshire and Greater Manchester, UK.
Launched yesterday with a goal to raise £20,000 for the Tony Hudgell Foundation, Moores’ Just Giving campaign for his upcoming walk has already generated over £10,000 (nearly $13,000 USD) in donations.
