Carl Cox Shares Heartfelt Message On Ultra Miami Absence

When Ultra Miami shared its final lineup additions a few weeks ago, many fans were surprised to see that Carl Cox was nowhere to be found on the festival’s 2024 roster.

Now, the techno legend–who has played the festival a whopping 19 times in 22 years–has returned to clear the air as to why he won’t be on South Beach for Miami Music Week this year.

“I won’t be making it this time as I’m taking the opportunity to play at some incredible events around the world,” Cox wrote on Instagram. “But don’t worry – I’m cooking up something extra special for my headlining set at Ultra Music Festival 2025, where we will be celebrating their massive 25th anniversary!”

Given his overwhelming number of appearances at Ultra Miami through the years, it’s no surprise the world-famous British DJ has been an instrumental part of Ultra’s RESISTANCE brand, the home of underground house and techno at the festival, as well as a popular resident party at the city’s M2 Miami superclub.

“I will definitely miss seeing you all there [Ultra Miami] this year,” Cox added. “But I’m happy to announce you will be able to catch me at RESISTANCE Miami at M2 on the 3rd of May.”

Cox went on to share that he’ll be playing his first-ever set at Ultra Australia in Melbourne come April. Read his complete statement below.

Though he won’t be in Miami next month, rumors of a coveted Cox appearance at EDC Las Vegas 2024 have begun to swirl online.

Cox will perform back-to-back with fellow techno stalwart Nicole Moudaber, closing out EDC Las Vegas’ Neon Garden stage with a special sunrise set, according to sources close to the festival. He is currently booked for shows in New York City on May 18 and 19, but his open schedule on Friday, May 17, would leave room for a performance at Insomniac’s trademark massive.
