Fred again.. has reworked Gesaffelstein on his new single, “BerwynGesaffNeighbors.”
The rework of “Destinations” from Gesaffelstein’s 2013 debut album Aleph features added vocals from London-based singer-songwriter BERWYN, a frequent Fred again.. collaborator who notably contributed to “Berwyn (all that i got is you)” from the producer’s Grammy-winning Actual Life 3 album.
Sharing the story behind the track on Instagram, Fred again.. wrote that he’d been “obsessed” with Gesaffelstein’s “Destinations,” making “a bunch of different bootleg edits” of the track with different vocals through the years.
Fred again.. went on to share that a couple of months ago, he realized that BERWYN’s “‘f*** the neighbors’ hook” from the aforementioned track would be perfect for the new tune and called him in to write and record more verses that expand on the original.
The resulting track puts a harder edge on BERWYN’s emotive lyrics, placed among the thumping midtempo beats of “Destinations” as opposed to the ethereal piano melodies of “Berwyn (all that i got is you).”
“BerwynGesaffNeighbors” arrives alongside another new Fred again.. track, “ItsNotREEAALLLLLLLL,” which features Duoteque and Orion Sun, in addition to production contributions from Skrillex.
Both tracks are featured on Fred again..’s new compilation album, USB, which includes his biggest club tracks of the last year and their accompanying remixes.
In addition to digital platforms, USB is currently available for vinyl pre-order. Fans can access the limited sale here with password “usb001.”
